3 ml or 5 ml syringe – what is the difference?
The main difference between a 3 ml syringe and a 5 ml syringe is the nominal volume the syringe is designed for. Volume is a product specification and should not be confused with a recommended dose or a specific intended use.
3 ml and 5 ml at Tilden
Tilden's current Luer Lock range from Terumo includes 3-piece single-use syringes with a centred Luer Lock connection, supplied without a needle:
Both sizes are also available in 100-packs. See the full Luer Lock syringes category.
What can you compare on the product page?
- Volume: 3 ml or 5 ml.
- Connection: Luer Lock on the products in this category.
- Needle: the products above are supplied without a needle.
- Pack size: smaller 10-packs or larger 100-packs.
- Manufacturer information: always check the labelling and instructions for use.
Which volume should you choose?
The correct syringe volume cannot be determined solely from the fact that 3 ml is smaller and 5 ml is larger. The choice should follow the intended use, the manufacturer's instructions and, where treatment is concerned, a prescription or advice from healthcare professionals. Tilden therefore does not provide dosing recommendations in this guide.
If you need a separate compatible needle, compare needles. Also read the guide to Luer Lock to understand the connection type.
For a broader explanation of needle gauge (G), mm, ml and connections, see Tilden's needle and syringe guide.
